Paintless dent removal?

Well it figures! Only 1300 miles on my new 09 HHR and I got an ugly door ding on the rear passenger door. It's about 2 inches long and there's a pretty good crease, but the paint didn't chip or scratch. I'm here in Denver and Googled some paintless dent removal services in the area. Does anyone have any experiences with paintless dent removal companies and what I should be looking out for? Do they really work? Are the mobile services ok to use? Any comments or suggestions would be great. Thanks guys!

Like everything there are good ones and bad ones.

The best way to find a good one is to ask the dealer who they use.

My sportscar club has had them come to our tech days a few times so I've learned a lot about them. They need control of the lighting to be able to do the best job. If the mobile guy can come to you and put the car out of the bright light somehow he will be able to do a better job. If there is going to be no way for him to do that then I would want to take it to a guy who has a shop.

We had a hail storm here and I had a paintless guy do 1600 dollars worth of work on my wife's STi. You can't tell what he did and where he did it.

We have had to use this process a few times! My recommendation would be to check with either body shop(s) or a detail shop that can recommend a quality service! I have seen end results that some made it look like there was never a problem and some services that are sub par at best! Our HHR is detailed monthly by a shop that does high end vehicles and I have used there paintless dent removal guy with flawless results!

Good Luck,

I've got a good buddy who has a business and I have messed around with it a bit as well. I have seen first hand how good it is, if you have a good tech. I've seen some pretty sharply creased dents come out looking like new.

How much does this process typically cost? I know it probably varies quite a bit though...

Hailstorms and a STi are a terrible match. The STi is made from VERY thin sheet metal.

Check with the salesman you bought the HHR from, they usually have a guy that comes in to do it at the dealership.

Should be $50 to $75 their rate

I had to have Paintless Dent removal done on the hood. The guy was recommended by the auto body guy here in town. You can't even tell there was a dent the size of your fist. The dent was just above the arm piece in the front hood too.
