Possible lemon?
Possible lemon?
So my 08 has been in the dealership over 10 times for the same issue. When I have the radio OFF, and my blinker on, I can hear an electrical POP in the sound system every once in a while. Radio and speakers and wiring have all been replaced, but still nothing. Anyone have this issue or heard of it?
You want to lemon out a perfectly running vehicle for a radio problem....find another dealer..it could be programing ( as the blinkers radio and chimes all run through a processor) or a bad processor.Otherwise if everything else is working correctly, turn radio on and leave volume low so the popping is negated.
I agree - find another dealer to work on it if you are not happy with the one you are currently dealing with. I had a similar issue, but I would loose the sound of the blinker or the radio and speakers all together. During the time that I was having problems, my local GM shop has replaced the radio module three times, both front door speakers have been replaced, the Body Control Module has been replaced, and the computer reprogrammed. The last time they went completely though the wiring from the radio to the speakers. They found a group of wires under the driver’s seat that appeared to be rubbing on a bracket. Everything has been working fine for the past four months (don’t know if it will happen again). Good luck

That might solve the problem, but I don't think anyone should have to do that to solve a problem. The dealer should find the problem and fix it, at any cost to them... since he was good enough to buy from them.
If my dealer couldn't (or wpouldn't) solve that problem if I had brought it to them, I would return the car and tell them to give me one without this problem, or give me my money back. We are, afterall, the ones who keep dealers in business, aren't we? We have every right to demand a car that is problem free.

In theory, returning the car to the dealer and “demanding one without the problem, or give you your my money back” would be an option. However, once they sell you the vehicle, you take possession of said vehicle, and drive it off their lot - they are out of the picture other than servicing it. You have to deal directly with GM to get a car replaced or bought back. I was told by a GM customer assistant representative that if you want to get GM to buy the vehicle back. That is has to be done within the 3 year / 36,000 Warranty Time and every opportunity to fix the issue must have been documented. One mile over or one day late and you are hosed. So if you truly thing you have a lemon crc – get in contact with GM customer assistance right away. P.S. – don’t even mention the word “lawyer” or they will clam up and not do a thing.
Jeez, I still hate that word.......lemon. There is no such thing as a lemon. Anything can be fixed. You do reach a point where the cost to repair exceeds the value. But anything can be fixed with the right resources. And it is a good tip to go to another dealer. Dealers are independent business's franchised to sell and service a the product. Each is responsible to hire and train (or enroll in factory sponsored training) their personnel. Each also is responsible to know every product you see (read see) on the road as it could be a customer in their service department. It is not possible to know every detail of every vehicle currently in the active vehicle population. Yes, a Chevy store is supposed to specialize in that product, but then they have to service the used car inventory. See where I'm headed?
Anyway, soap box away and back the the OP's issue. Changing radio and the other component is like moving the overflowing water bucket. Until you turn the water off the bucket is still going to overflow. The better diagnostic path IMHO would be to determine the source of the pop and filter it. Could be a relay, switch, motor, actuator, etc generating the annoying pop. Go to another store. Or better yet, ask the service manager at the current store to get you in touch with the area representative and ask that person who has the best electrical technician in your immediate area and take it to that store.

Well, here is the deal. I have an 08 and have had the same problem since the day I purchased it. No dealer can figure it out and ready to go after gm. When my radio is off and the turn signal on, occasionally I will hear an electrical POP in the speakers. Radio has been replaced, speakers replaced, dealer gave up on it and gm made me an offer of 1500 off of a new vehicle. Anyone ever heard of this problem???
