Pressure sensitive C/C?

Okay since I've owned this car I have noticed that it will throw you through the back window when you push the accel botton with the C/C on. I know this botton is for acceleration, but have been shocked everytime I push it of the amount of "take off" it has. Recently I have been playing with it ( THE C/C that is, get your mind out of the dungeon ) alittle and found that if pressed very lightly it will slowly pick up speed at maybe about 1 mph per 2 or 3 seconds instead of dropping down into passing gear and launching you into hyper speed(which I do enjoy).
Is this pressure sensitive C/C or am I losing my mind? I would think that I would have heard about it or read about it somewhere if it had it.
So whats the deal??

I read that if you push the + or - one time, the speed changes by 1 MPH. I set mine, then to increase, I'll push the + maybe 5 quick times and it increases by 5 MPH. I thought that was pretty cool. You are right, if you hold it down, it goes into launch mode if you arent careful.

You should feel and hear it when you have a CGS Intake on it, I have learned to disengage it then reset it to what I neeed.
Not losing mind!

Yes and the same is true for easing up a bit. Hit the decel button.....one tap=-1mph.

but do you notice a slow acceleration when you hold the + down softly, not pushing very hard?

If I hold mine down, it launches and downshifts.

mines does too, but try just barley holding it down.
I just thought that maybe when I do that it is not connecting all the way and is just jumping 1 mph at a time, but it is very smooth and almost unnoticable.

That's how the cruise control has worked on every car I've owned.

It does not matter how hard/soft you push it. It is not that sensitive. It you press and hold w/ any pressure, you and/or your passengers may suffer whiplash!!

Perhaps all of the ones you owned were electronic. I myself and I'm sure others have had the older vaccuum type cruise controls that were not nearly as accurate as these later model computerized systems.

Ah, the memories, '71 Eldorado, '74 Fleetwood, '68 Ford LTD, '74 Lincoln Towncar, all gas hogs and big as boats but so smooth was the ride.

I bought the 74 Lincoln in 1996 with 42K original miles on it. Mint condition and all I added was a new set of tires on it. It drove like a dream but finally got to where I couldnt keep a starter on it. I finally sold it but it served me well for my $1500 investment at the time.
