Price for HHR SS...

Hi,
I have been thinking about buying a HHR SS. I found one, but the dealer wants $17.9 plus fees. So the car would be about $20K out the door. The car is clean and has 49K on the odometer.

Is this a fair asking price in this market? I have also considered that I could probably buy a new HHR (non-SS) for about the same price.

Any suggestions, comment welcome. And thanks in advance for the advice.

That seems a little high, I was looking at an 09' SS w/ 900 miles at Carmax and they were asking $21k

Well, he also did not give a year for the SS. For the mileage, I would guess an 09 at youngest, an 08 at oldest. In either case, I think that sounds a bit high. I would tell the dealer that you want it for $18,000 OTD and don't let them him-haw you on it. Or if its an 08 with that many miles, I'd more reasonably aim for 15,000 OTD, 09 I'd say about 16,500 OTD I know of an 09 S.I.M. at my local dealer, with 20k miles on it, and they are asking $21,995.. WAY over priced. The biggest thing is negotiation. I negotiated my 08 Shadow Edition with 29,676 miles down from $13,000 to $10,900 OTD and I was 22 at the time..
my biggest advice, know what you want, for how much, and give that to them, be confident, don't let them try and haggle with you so long as your price is reasonable.

Go to any dealership, tell them what you want, how much you want to pay, and let them track it down for you. That's what I did. $17900 for a used HHR SS with 49K is ludicrous. These cars tank on resale values. I rolled quite a bit of negative in with my new HHR and it was still less than yours-granted its an LS, but its a 2010.

See. Like I said. 15,000 out the door for that would be about right incl all taxes and fees and such.. so about $13,995 would be my price for it..
