a problem down below

No not a problem with that Its is a rattle that sounds like it is coming from the exhaust about mid way under the car. It is really bad when I use the remote start for the first time in a day. It is a very tingy rattle and makes the car sound like a pile of crap. I was wondering if maybe the flowmaster muffler on it vibrates too much and has loosened something like a heat shield or something. Has anyone else had the tingy rattle. I'm going to get under it and chack it out, but I'm in the middle of a clutch job on my daughters cavalier (PITA).
I'll report the findings in a few days if this clutch job ever ends.

By your description I would guess the heat shield is vibrating. Re-aligning with a large screw driver or crow bar usually fixes.

I agree, mine did not rattle, but it buzzed at certain rpm. I shot some expanding foam gap filler in several spots between the shield and underbody and that stabilized the shield so no more noise. Obviously you shouldn't get anything between the exhaust pipe and shield.

Boy am I lazy. it took me 8 months to get this delt with
I tried a few times to realign (beat the heck out of) the heat shield above the cat and it didnt work. Its been rattling ever since. but I took it to the dealer and they say it is the Catalytic converter, must be breaking down inside. They ordered my a new one and are putting it on today.
The good news is the cat has an 80k warranty and I'm at 74k. YAY!!!!
That annoying rattle will be gone today! If you have this rattle get it in quick before the warranty is up.
