Those are a bit different. Don't see anyone trying to make the next soccer mom scooter out of a Willis coupe or anything of the like. No more HHR/PTsm00Zer types.....

I think the 'retro' phase is over, though I personally liked it, and still do. The HHR looks are what drew me to it in the first place, and I still like the way my 2007 looks.

I've had a few coworkers come out and ask what my 09 panel is. My reply has become '..it's a Chevy'. I figure if they don't know by now, auto design and innovation is incidental in their lives anyways.

Another coworker and I just had a lengthy conversation regarding the current retro trend in auto design; most notably Chrysler's attempt. Our conclusion was if one is into this look, now is the time to act as we suspect as with all products America's attention span will soon wain and design will move on. That's kinda sad as we both would like to see a retro Road Runner before this is over.

When one thinks about it Chevrolet's approach to this retro look has been in reaction; not as inovation. Only a dreamer could dare to ever hope for a retro Chevy II.

I think the GTO could have benefitted from retro styling, rather than looking kinda like a bigger sunfire.

I see dodge / crysler as the Retro company of today. I was rather disaapointed though in The Dodge Dart - My 1st car was a 68 Dart, and when I saw the new one, I was dissapointed becuase I thought for sure a Retro Dart was in the works oh well. I too was drawn to The HHR simply for the Retro look of the old chevy.....

Yeah, the new Dart is just a reissue of the Neon with an old badge.

But how could Chrysler design a modern car with the boxiness of the old Darts? It would be difficult to say the least. There's not many distinguishing styling queues to be had either, like they were able to get away with on the new Charger (door insets, full width taillights, etc). At least the new Challenger is unmistakeable...

Speaking of the Dart- I have a set of the old chrome dart topside turn signals that were on top of the front fenders. When i finally do find them i was thinking about getting them re-chromed and mount em on my HHR fenders....
