To Purchase an SSR or not

Hello -
We are looking to replace our family car - a Buick Rendevous.
I keep looking at the HHR's but am concerned about them being a 4-cylinder.
We also have an SSR and are members of the SSRFanatics. I posed the question to them about the HHR's power and was directed here. I was also given some great stats.

I would like to hear how you all like the handling, speed, comfort and room inside the HHR. What options come with them? I'd also like to hear about the current issues, if any, there are about the cars.

Their look has really grown on me and I absolutely love the orange color. When that color was considered for the SSR's I was waiting in line . . .

I am open to your comments and suggestions.

Thank You,
Mrs STEP

Ditto... for each of us to sing it's praises, we'd prolly repeat over 80% of the posts on this forum... 15% would be just chatter... and a very small percent about it's faults... Browse thru the forum and see for yourself and enjoy !!

What are the demographics of HHR owners?
Age, type of work, collectors, etc?

Welcome

Welcome, you have come to the right place for everything HHR.

You can use the search feature to locate answers to most of your questions.

To start you out, this may be of help for you.
This thread Problems/Service Issues. These seem to be our 'issues' with the HHR and responses to such.

One of our members, dbarberaz, maintains Offical Recall and TSB Number post (Technical Service Bulletin)

You will find all sorts of modicications our members have done to their HHR's. We are a proud bunch!

Enjoy, and welcome to the family!

The demographic seems to be all over the place as well. Blue collar, white collar, collector, family man/woman, young and younger. It doesn't matter. The HRR is one sweet ride that appeals to all.

Hi. We have an HHR and also the big brother to the Rendezvous, the Buick Rainier. My wife looks at our HHR as a small version of our Buick, but with a better interface on the radio!

She DOES miss the seat assignment in the HHR. In the Rainier, when we activate it with our separate key fobs, the seats, AC/heat, radio, mirrors , and more assume an assigned position for each particular driver I'm sure the Rendezvous has the same. No such option in the HHR. However, the HHR DOES come with a remote starter from the keyfob when equipped with an automatic. We had to have thast put into our Rainier at a substantial cost.

We have the 2LT package, and I would suggest that for you too. It is the "Loaded" package. Real nice A LOT of bang for your buck. The Leather seats, while not high end leather, and likely because they are not high end leather, are quite durable. They also have heaters in them, so if you live in a cold clime, the seats really make life nice

The options you need to get after your purchase can almost all be found from vendors on this site.

The most important "mod" is the rear Anti-stabilizer bar. The car really responds to it. Less sway, better handling, less lean, etc. Chevy should make these stock on all HHRs.
It can be found here: http://www.socalhhrs.com/products.html
From one of our great vendors, SoCal.

You could stop there and be quite happy, but no doubt after reading a lot of posts at this site, you will be more than curious about the low cost mods that add to the engine performance and may actually raise your MPG

An air intake, a new muffler, etc. I spoke with my Chevy service manager and he said the mods should not effect the warrantee unless they can prove a direct cause and effect of the new part to the malfuncton. He says customers are constantly changing their air intakes and mufflers for better performance with no deleterious effects.

I found a beautiful turquois SSR , but cannot get it. We are quite burdened enough with the Buick and the HHR payments
Still it is nice to know they are out there. If we got rid of the Buick, we'd go back to the mini van, so no SSR for us
Glad you have one though! Enjoy it

If you go HHR, you will be quite happy. It is a great compromise of ride, MPG, handling, utility, and great looks! It is another car to be quite happy and proud of.
