Retain reverse lockout with new shift knob?
Has anyone been able to keep their reverse lockout when adding an aftermarket shift knob? I noticed that the stock lockout lifts under the knob and I'm not sure that it'll work with another knob.
Adapting to a screw on knob is as simple as drilling out a an adapter to 12mm internal diameter and tapping it for a couple of set screws... But this has me stumped, though I haven't ripped into it yet. Maybe an aftermarket lockout would fit?
Thanks for any help!

On my 08 manual, you have to lift the reverse lockout to engage the reverse gear.
If I could cut part of the shoulder of the reverse lockout, maybe it would tuck under the boot... But I don't wanna be the guinea pig 😉.

I found a work around written by the guys over at cobaltss.net. (Link Here) I'm making a new leather shift boot to replace the shedding stocker and I'll replace the hollow plastic knob with a nice aluminum ball while I have it off. I'm going to give it a go this weekend and report back. Don't know why GM couldn't have just used a threaded knob like everyone else...
