rewiring for remote start wont work!

ok so i have an 06 rental, without the ap3 code thing so i grounded my purple wire in pin 3, i have non remote start remote but read i could still start it with my original remote by pressing lock and panic, nope didnt work, although now when i hit panic the horn beeps 3 times instead of the loud long beep just 2 short ones... what us going on what else do i need to do? i even took the remote apart (i had 3 for some odd reason and cut it up and used the panic button to push the remote start button but that didnt work either) the key fobs inside have all the wiring for everything just no bottons on the outside... van any body help me or lead me in the right direction, keep in mind its anexrental and never had remote start from the begining (but grounding that wire is supposed to make it think the hood is closed wich is why they dont start from everything else i read thanks guys

Auto or manual transmission? You'll never get it to work with a manual.......

Did you enable the remote start function through the DIC?

There's at least one other thread here on the forum dealing with a keyless entry concern and it was determined that his HHR did not have keyless remote start at all. (not what he was concerned about anyways) I'm mentioning this here because I believe not all ex-rentals are "just missing a switch" to delete the remote start..... some just are not equipped for it. Seems if you followed the "sticky" post and ran the proper jumper, etc, and it's still a no start, yours may be one that's just not equipped for it.

Now, if all of them are equipped mechanically but the computer is programmed to not allow for it, I wouldn't know. If that were the case, it wouldn't be a shade tree mechanic fix. If the option doesn't show in the DIC, that may be a clue.

Also from the same thread, there was an attempt to modify a 06 model....... it too was a no go.
Maybe something about this model year?
