rim width

I'm trying to figure out if 8.5 wide wheels will be too wide . I don't want the wheels to stick out past the fender too much. Anyone have any idea?

Chad is running 18x7.5 with a 40mm offset and his look nice to me. Assuming the factory spec is 7" wide I wouldn't go wider than an 8".
