Rough idle

So on my 2011, 2.2 I have an issue progressively getting worse. When sitting in traffic and DIC indicated temp get up around 200 F ( the guage doest show overheating) it will start idle rough.
Curious as to what you guys think might be causing this? Other than that, it runs just fine. Car has about 240,000 miles on it.

200F is normal operating temperature. Why would you think that the gauge might show overheating if it isn’t ?
FYI. Been said many times. Pull the codes. Maybe something has set that relates to your problem.

Could be the thermostat is starting to fail, would set a code. Could be a dirty MAF sensor and or throttle body needs cleaning, a dirty air filter, needs an oil change? Do you regularly maintain the car?

I do change oil regularly,….I have never cleaned Throttle Body nor MAF sensor. I will check it for codes as I have not done that yet. Have changed air filter but it has lot miles since did that.

Check the basics 1st step

Clean the throttle body and the MAF while in there look over the vacuum hoses for cracks (leaks cause lean conditon)
check the codes
Sounds like no overheat but good to check and verify the cooling fan cycles on and off at the correct temperatures
Merry Christmas

Use the correct cleaner CRC has a kit with TB cleaner and Sensor Safe MAF sensor spray. Do not move the throttle plate manually, the plastic gears can strip off and you will need a new TB

Today I bought some CRC MAF sensor cleaner. Is it ok to use any throttlebody cleaner? I had planned to power up throttlebody and get it wide open, then kill power to it for cleaning.
No codes

The throttle closes when power is removed. So, your idea is pointless.
Just unplug it and move the throttle carefully, stop if there is any resistance. Or, remove the throttle body and do it on the bench.

Yes the proper chemicals so as to not damage coatings and sensitive electronics. Worked recently for me on a Dodge Magnum 5.7 hemi rough idle and CEL

Who remembers the carb days? One hand revving it up, spray carb cleaner down the barrels with the other. Creating a rich flood condition.
Quickly slam closed the choke and bring it down to almost stall. Then do it again.
Clears the venturi and needle/seat and other tight passages. sometimes worked great saved some time and a dime.
got's to keep the junk out clear the fuel orifices and the airflow smooth.
