wow, this thread has gone off topic.
But really just use the center console compartment on any HHR without the Performance Display, and use one of those dash carpets.
......although carpet may hold in some smells

Thanks a lot folks. I found the coin holder from my '93 DeVille and it fits right into the bin in front of the shifter

I can pull the door panel triangle that is behind the side mirror mounting bolts as a quick spot. Though, I want something more sophisticated...

Yeah, I know what you mean. A "stash" used to be a "STASH" back in the 70's and 80's. These days the only thing I'd need a secret stash spot in my HHR is for my candy that I don't want my wife to find. And the candy is just that; Hershey bars, Snickers and M&M's And the dash pod doesn't work well for that...

I had an 06 Impala that had pockets sewn into the front of the seat bottom, that you wouldn't even knoe they were there if you were looking at them.

In my 2008 auto there's a small lift out section to the right of the shifter where I store my cell phone while driving.
I keep 4 quarters & a nickel (coin) under it for tolls.

That's what fits, the insert isn't lifted enough to notice and there's no money showing to tempt kids.
That section wasn't removable in the (2009 auto) rental I had though.

If you're talking about that little insert to the side of the shifter, yes it is Mowgli. Well, it's removable on mine at least.
