Shift knob extention

i just bought a 2007 hhr with the 5-speed. I want to raise and bring the shifter back an inch or two. Does anybody have any idea as to how i can go about completing this task?

You could fabricate a handle extension fairly easily from aluminum tubing. A small diameter would allow you to bend it to your desired location. A regular pipe bender from any hardware store will work. I bought copper pipe and bent it right there in the store for my rat fink style shifter. A small extension with a few gentle bends should get you where you want to be. I'm sure you could also thread the inner pipe to attach to your shifter, and thread the top outside to accept your shift knob depending on the size.
