Steering issue again

Have an 06 with 245k miles. Had a steering issue couple months ago but resolved with a fuse which I think got blown because of a battery jump. Just yesterday steering was feeling more stiff than usual but nowhere near as stiff as when the fuse went bad. I’m thinking it would probably be the steering pump. Does anyone know of a way to test the pump to see if that is what is causing the issue? The fuse was the only steering problem I’ve had with this car up until yesterday.
There are no computer faults showing, yet.

This car does not have a power steering pump. There is an electric assist motor. That's why you changed a fuse the last time that fixed the problem.

Thank you cat man I am a bit off on my terminology but After I posted this I found a tire to be the problem (I think), getting new tires tomorrow and will check the feel of the steering then. Hopefully that will resolve my issue.

First look at the front suspension movig parts looking for something looking odd. If you are not capable take it to a shop.

A bad motor usually will trigger a message on the instrument panel and "fix" itself after a cool down. That would likely be covered by the special extended warranty on the EPS motor.

Did turn out to be a bad tire causi;g steering to be tougher than usual. Put new tires on which I was needing anyway and like magic steering is back to normal. Thanks for the responses. Glad I found this site, had my hhr 06 since new and only last couple years have had to put some real money into it. But still love the car.
