Thumbs up To stripe or not to stripe ? ?

I recently purchased a new HHR 2LT in Dark Silver Metallic. I have the chrome package, 17" polished wheels, running boards and HHR splash guards, but the car seems to need something to spiff up the appearance. In the past, I often added a nice stripe along the side of cars, but stripes don't seem to be as popular now. I do not like the woody sides or flames.

Any other ideas on how to give a little extra touch to the HHR? I was considering the Chevrolet in script for sides of hood (what size - 7" or 11" ?) and blue dot tail lights, but not sure if this is an issue in Ohio. I am a senior citizen and don't want to junk it up, but would like to give the car a little help in a conservative way.

My son's '34 Dodge street rod pickup has a nice stripe, but too much for the HHR, plus this stripe was painted on and I would hate to ruin the originality of the HHR for trade-in time.

Check out my son's street rod pickup. My wife and I owned this for about 30 years - gave it to our son, who went all the way on the project (1 year's work). Next project is my wife's former 66 Vette for a full (original) restoration.

:) Thanks everyone, Fritz45

Pinstripes are cool. If you like them I would give it a try. If you are going to put on vinyl pinstripes you can always take them off if you don't like them. That's what I did with my vinyl stripes and flames, peeled them right back off. I am not going to suggest any styling for your vehicle, I'll leave that up to you. Besides most people won't like my suggestions. My HHR has became skulls and blue neon.

How about a simple black accent stripe along the centerline of the body? I did a black line around my red HHR and I think it offsets the body nicely, particularly since the windows are tinted and the framing around the windows is black.

hi, like you I'm of the "older" generation and want to add some flare to my HHR while at the same time contributing to and not diminishing from it's nostalgic roots. I've got several plans already setup for my HHR and am also considering a pinstripe to kinda break up the very bold side view. Have you seen cj kraus's (sp) HHR? He did an excellent job making chrome side moulding's and added the "Chevrolet Script".

I also have the real metal "Chevrolet" scripts to use on mine, I have them in both 5 1/2" (55/56 radio script) and 12" (55/56 body script) lengths but haven't decided on which one to use. this decision will be made once I take delivery of my HHR (still in transit).

Good luck with your decision and by all means please post pictures. I'll be posting mine as soon as possible.

I am rather partial to racing stripes down the middle, myself. I also wanted something without being obnoxious or gaudy.

Here's my babe stock--BEAUTIFUL, but kinda naked:

and here she is with her war paint:

You can check out my ride here: https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/picture-media-11/krejatons-hallowed-hot-rod-1141/

BTW, that is a fine, fine truck.

I can't remember what site I used when I bought my scripts cause that's when I still had my 56. But if I remember correctly it was from mrnomad.com or danchuk.com.

So that all of the Chevrolet fans don't get uptight by looking at a (1934) Dodge Pickup, want to say that the entire drive train is new GMC, including a new 350 cu. in. RamJet engine. Check out this truck by viewing my first post in this thread.
