Temp. Gauge and A/C

Hello, newbie here , my name is Tillman AKA Frank. I have a 2008 HHR and have a prob. Tha A/C works fine and all of a sudden the temp. Gauge shuts down.....0... and the A/C shuts off until the temp gauge is working again. Sometimes for a few MLS and then sometimes for days at a time. Would this be a replacement of the sensor or the themastat.

Thermostat... very rare that the sensor is the problem. I would suspect sensor wiring before the actual unit itself. Those symptoms are actually showing you that the sensor reported a fault to the ECU.

Make sure you use the proper AC-Delco thermostat or the same thing is going to happen.

t-stat first. AC/Delco 131-158 ONLY

If that doesn't fix it get a sensor.

BTW, the life time of DexCool is 5yr or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first; most likely you are due.

#706 in this diagram, right near the thermostat. What thermostat did you use? What is the code for the Check Engine Light(CEL)? Did you change the coolant?

Burp yes, went back down and installed a new temp. Sensor. That did the trick
