I just turned 13,000 miles on the HHR and I thought this "ticking" noise would have gone away by now but it hasn't. So, I thought I would see if any of you have experienced the same.

After the car has warmed up, when the car is shut off, there is a ticking noise. I think I have narrowed it down to one of the exhaust heat shields, but I am not 100% sure. Since I hate taking the car to the dealership for anything, I figured I would check here before taking the next step.

 

Don't worry about it. Probably hot and cold expansion creating the ticking. The same as most other people who have mentioned it.

 

I have over 16,000 so far and I have that ticking noise every so often. There's nothing to be concered about.

 

Its normal and nothing to worry about. Don't think there's anything the dealer could do anyway.

My HHR is nothing compared to my Harley...that thing starts ticking as soon as I shut it off and it goes on for 5 minute. Exhaust is out in the open (not under the vehical like an HHR) So its a lot loader.

 

I figured it was nothing, but I wanted to see if what you guys thought.

 

I have it too. I am not concerned about it. Experienced it on a number of my vehicles particulalry after shut off.

 

It's not the heat shield, the ticking sound comes from the resonator after shut off. No big deal.

 

That makes more sense.

 

I've had 2 hhr's, one 2.4 auto, and presently (by the way more fun, 2.4 stick, a he** more fun), and both "ticked". told by dealer no problem..

 

I've started noticing the ticking in the past few days too. I'm glad it's not a problem.
