Towing the HHR

Is there anyone here who has or is towing their HHR behind a motorhome? If so what has been your experience?

use the search function and you will find plenty of threads about this, i think there is a fuse you want to take out so that the battery does not get drained.

i wouldnt think it would be a good thing unless gm has designed the trans different. i would think the trans would be moving even in neutral with no oil pressure?????

Mine happens to be a five speed, though GM says towing the automatic is not a problem either. Flat towing either the five speed or the automatic does not affect the warrantee, nor does the odometer register towed miles.

The HHR WAS designed for flat (dinghy) towing.

Go to www.rv.net

Specifically check Dinghy Towing : http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fu...s/forum/31.cfm

There are a bazillion threads about "toads" and specifically the HHR. I know there is some issue with the SS (requires different plates for the bar).

But if you can't find what you want there, it doesn't exist.

If you have an SS, you have to source your baseplates from Demco. Roadmaster and Blue Ox don't make them for the SS.

You also have to remove fuse #8 while towing for all HHR models. Some fabricate a switch or buy a kit for this purpose.

Links for both are below:

Have been towig our 2007 LT auto now for 2 years. No problems. The one down side though is that the front of the HHR is so low that the tow gear will have to be lifted to keep things level.
