TPMS learn mode

I have a HHR 2009 LT with 83,000 miles on it, I replaced tires & installed new OEM TPMS a year ago I cannot get my car into the learn mode, I have tried every way shown on Utube, the internet & owners manual, key on engine off, brake pedal pressed, parking brake on, key fob lock/unlock held down for 1 minute or more, I never get horn blow or anything showing learn mode activated on instrument panel, I have other chevys that will go to learn mode using the techniques that I have tried, does anyone know to manually put HHR's in learn mode?

It is supposed to be key on engine off press lock & unlock for a second or until the horn sounds.
Did it ever work? Is your fob Genuine GM? The generic fobs with a LED on the board don't work properly.

2008 models have a problem that requires a new firmware flash. Are you sure it is a 2009?
Ignore any instructions from youtube or wiki that are not specifically HHR and some of those. There are 8 different GM procedures.

Are the tires currently reading on the DIC display now ? They should be with new, correct TPMS sensors installed. Since the relearn is just to reset the position of each tire's location, you should have readings. If not, maybe it's the wrong sensors ?
Have you tried one of the handheld reset tools ?

Even with the tool you have to use the fob to get it into learn mode. On my 2008 with the bad firmware it would go into learn but it would not respond to air pressure changes, IIRC.
I think the problem with the LED fobs is they can't send combinations of keys. For instance they don't do remote start because that is a combo of Lock + Panic.

I tried procedure key on engine off, didn't work, don't know if my fobs are GM OEM but engine starts by remote, & my HHR is 2009.

I ordered new TPMS tire valves on line installed with new tires, supposed to be GM replacement for 2009 HHR, don't know if they work due to vehicle not going into learn mode.

It's TWO years later but if you're still in need of help, then you'll need to answer some of our questions.
(i.e. Do you get the tire pressure readings shown on the dash ? If not, then they're most likely the wrong sensors )

Did you follow the directions in the owners manual, the sequence of the procedure?

Like I said 2 years ago, if the circuit board inside the fob has an LED on it it is NOT genuine GM. A Genuine GM fob case will have GM engraved on it.
