trip odometer only goes to 999.9 miles?

Both my trip odometers reset to zero at 1000 miles. Is there a way to make it go higher or is that just the way it is? I've always reset mine at oil change. I normally change my oil at 3000-3500 miles. I've only had this for 2 months and had my dealer change the oil a week after I got it. This seems dumb to me. What if you took a 1500 mile trip?

It will "restart".... Simple math... add 1,000 and keep track.

For oil changes, just use the % from the DIC. You can always use a notepad, too.

Yeah. I know. Simple math. It just seems wrong to me for a digital odometer to reset at 1000 miles.

There's only so many spaces, why it was designed that way, who knows? But there's no repair or mod for it so we just have to live with it.

I just took a 1700 mile round trip and was a little surprised by the rollover myself. I thought I had reset it inadvertantly when I reset the 1st one at fillup. No biggie for me. I was just curious as to how many miles I would be driving.

80% of the mileage on my HHR is highway mileage from trips. With some small exceptions, all the trips exceed the 999.9 designation....some by 6-8 times. I just add it up at termination of each trip. No biggy....slight inconvenience, yeah...but you get used to it.

I only use the odometer to track mileage between fillups. On occasions where I have tracked longer trips for work, they have never been more than 600 miles or so.
