Is this true? 08 HHR SS are really 09's?

90% of salesmen are very uneducated..
i dont like being bothered by them at the dealerships
cause they know less than most people who are there
looking at a car they've already researched and want.
but you got to have them so you can get your car i guess.
i normally just ask for the sales manager or GM's help. the
process goes much smoother and you get further w/ them.
helps when you know someone there to..

Some of the sales force is very educated, so a few give many a bad name.
It's up to us to keep them honest

You could call it an 2008 1/2.
I can see where he get this. The 04 GP came out in March of 03 as a mid year intro. It is a true 04 as that is what the paperworks says.
Now with the HHR it came out mid year or lat 07 and has many of the new items that the 09 has. But in this case GM put 08 on the paper work.
There are different reasons for what year a car is called. Some safety, some marketing etc.
In the old days all new cars came out in September and even if you ordered one you did not get it till they were released. Now you can get a new car introed anytime of the year and it can be the same or even a year in advanced.
Note the new Camaro is a 2010 but will be available in Feb 09. THat is if they get the interior parts they need.
Either way the 08 SS is a 08 SS at least on paper.
GM is also know for some crazy running changes. Back in the early 90's one year of truck has year befores exhaust in the early truck, the same year mid year and the next years later in production. So one year shared 3 different year exhaust.
The 1978 Pace car was a 1978 but it had parts on it that the 1979 had like the seats and spoilers.

Man, I agree (in general). It is a real turn-off for me when the salespeople are ignorant about the product they sell. That's what killed Circuit City for me too. (I might as well buy all electronics online and now do that). When I was 14 and worked in a motorcycle dealership, I knew every spec on every Honda and Triumph in there, down to oil capacity, wheelbase, wet weight, torque, hp, etc. Most sales folks are bored with all the spare time, why the frick not read up on your product, and generate some enthusiasm in potential buyers? I have heard many people complain about this.

heres a funny story about my retard salesmen...i went to a few chevy dealerships wanting to test drive the HHR SS and the Cobalt SS last month... they told me they never heard of a turbocharged cobalt and when i told him to go to cobaltss.net to see them he went there and said that site was a hoax 
he's been wrokin there for 2 yrs and knows what hes talkin bout and that i shouldnt beilive everything i hear lmao then he was trying to tell me the HHR SS was supercharged like the cobalt was and not turbo and that y would they use a turbo when a supercharger is beter for gas milage
.../sigh, i told him ur right i shouldnt beilive everything i hear and good thing i diidnt buy a $25k car off u that doesnt exist and left lmao
