It's when the husband services the vehicle, loads the vehicles with the luggage and "stuff", drives endlessly to get to a location where the bugs are horrendous, the wife continues to cook meals and chases the kids, and the husband sits back in a very comfortable folding lounge chair with a beer, a portable radio for the latest sporting event, and a great cigar. He obviously is enjoying the view

No, No, dear friend. That's Vacation Uptopia!

Vacation is when the husband services the vehicle, loads the vehicles with the luggage(one bag for you, one each for the kids, and thirty-seven for her, one of which contains every shoe in her closet) and "stuff". Drive endlessly to get to a location, stopping at every McDonald's(with PlayPlace) for meals and every gas station or other fast food place for bathroom breaks afterword for the next 30 miles(because "I don't have to go" before we get back on the road). Trying to explain to the kids that stopping to "SEE THE LARGEST PRAIRIE DOG IN THE WORLD" is a waste of time because it is really a cement statue and not real. After getting to location, unloading all that luggage and "stuff".

You just settle down for some rest and that beer and great cigar and you realize that it's time to go home. Repeat above for trip home.

Don't get me wrong....it's a fun time.

Man, we have both been there.

I wonder if your wife is my wife sister!!!!! They sound familiar.....last count on shoes = 57 pair

But no kids anymore, except maybe the grand-kids. And they still need the "stop" and Mcdonalds thing.

Wow!

Vacation at our house is only five days away!

Vacation at our house means the female member of this household has been dragging out and organizing all the camping gear, packing a "minimal" amount of clothes, sealing the seams on the tent and making sure everything is in working order. Hubby and I will load the car up Friday night when that 113* temp, or however hot it's gotten by the weeks end, will not be quite as bad. Saturday morning at four in the morning, we will be dragging ourselves happily out of bed, grabbing the camera's on the way out the door, stopping to pick up a cup of coffee for the road in our travel cups, and hitting the Interstate and heading north to Glacier National park.

We have decided to skip our usual campsites in Bryce Canyon and Logan Canyon UT this year on the way up, so we can get up to the cool country as fast as possible. Reservations are made for motels in Salt Lake City, and in Butte MT, and this time one week from this very moment, we will be setting up camp in Glacier National Park, and staying put for nearly three weeks! We can be found doing a bit of hiking, playing in the lake, napping in a hammock, toasting marshmallows over a campfire, having a drink at the lodge, taking a canoe out for a spin on the lake, visiting with our summer time camping friends, and just relaxing, relaxing, relaxing! We hear from our Montana friends that it was 61* at nine this morning, the park is cooler, and we'll actually be seeing that wet stuff us Arizona folks rarely get to see anymore, called RAIN!

Yep, life is good, but will get a whole lot better come Saturday morning at four A.M.!

PS, Hubby is the one who usually does the majority of the driving.

Very well could be, but one thing's for sure--they all have that "shoe" gene imbedded....us guys only have two pair, black and brown....and we still have to ask which ones to wear!

Leave Friday for Vegas to yet another wedding. Maybe I can find some time to sneak away while I'm there and find something to do......21 anyone?
