Want to understand VVT?
I stumbled across this defunct Delphi page that’s still accessible at archive dot org. It explains how their VVT system works. Not specific to Ecotec, but very understandable. One important point is that it’s not just an on or off valve, it’s a proportioning valve and uses pulse width modulation (PWM) to get the solenoid to work. Pretty cool stuff (and a whole ‘nuther Google search.)

Yup.. that is pretty cool,,, as I go forward learning while working on my new acquisition, I will be gleaning the internet and this forum for answers to puzzles I may encounter. The VVT systems is one of those puzzles. Being a green horn on the ins and outs of the HHRs and learning the unique features of the SS I purchased, it will be a challenge, With over 50 yrs experience in the mechanical field I know I can do it,
Thanks for sharing, I am hoping I will get advice from you guys on the ECOTECH engines in the coming future,
