The oil seems to be from a clogged up valve cover pipe, soak the valve cover in 2 ozs of Dawn and a gallon of water over night, then rinse it out and let it dry

I needed to replace my gate lift support struts. I ordered them from Rockauto. I was gonna knock that out real quick. I had my son hold up the gate while I started to complete the task. Well first off he pushed it up so far it snapped one of the old struts upper connections. I told him not to worry about it because I was replacing it anyway. I quickly realized I had the wrong struts. I thought...this stinks how could Rockauto mess this up? I pulled up my order only to realize I ordered the hood struts, not the gate struts. They weren't worth sending them back having to pay postage so my hood has new support struts! I did my best to put the broken strut back on.

I had a new exterior driver's door handle to replace my chipped chrome one. I had done this on my old HHR so I knew it was simple to do. Well...I broke the replacement handle trying to hook it around the metal rod inside the door. So ok...I will put the old one back on until I can get another one! In the words of Britanny...ooops I did it again! . So now I cannot open my driver's door from the outside until I can get a new handle. If I was home I would run over to the salvage yard....nope I'm down at the lake. I found one salvage yard about 30 minutes away. I have no idea if they have an HHR there...I have reached out to them but no response yet.

Good times!

FYI When you install the new replacement rear lift gate struts add a tiny dab of grease on the ball and socket ! , If the Ball bracket breaks (the one on lift gate) only 2 bolts to remove and replace, You scrap yard will have them :)

Yep, rain here all day also.

I am planning to put Oldblue on the lift and drop the oil pan to see what broke. Mostly for curiosity since there is a hole in the block.

Make sure to get some pics and post em. The old mechanic in me likes to see a visual when there is some type of engine failure.

I will take lots of pics.

This might turn into an oil pan removal how-to also.
