Popcorn ceilings, what a nasty idea that was!
with the border closed, I can’t do house calls!!

Today, a cruise for a coffee and fresh air! in the BlackSwan! I have to check the tire pressure’s first, I think that right front has a slow leak, I really dislike the TPMS , takes all the fun out of swapping tires twice a year! The Cooper 18’s will be worn down this summer and I might sell the Cobalt SS rims, I might go with 16” Wheel Vintques smoothies and moons or full moons, I might just throw on a set of new 18” tires and keep the SS rims, but until September, I’ll just keep checking tire pressure as I have done since I started driving , check the tires and air pressure

Bummer that you can not do my house repairs because of the closed border
Our border towns are hurting because of the closed border !
Well I am off to lunch to meet up with a old work buddy and have a BS session lol
You all have a good day

I cleared the HHR and Sweetie was off to her Mom’s, so I cut the lawn, weeded the flower beds, filled the bird baths, cleaned my shop vac!

Drywall dust!

It’s caked in the filter element!
I think I’ll order a new filter!

Uh oh Steve ! Be ready to pull the shop vac motor out to lube the bearings. Was less than an hour ago I had to do that. Shop vac started screaming when I was vacuuming the car. Looked inside the vac housing and it was caked with dust around the motor. Compressed air blowout and a couple drops of oil on the shaft bearings...........good as new.

Nice mats!!

I oiled the bearings, thank you FMG . I read in the ad for these filters that they are washable! Hmmm, worth a shot, I mean I couldn’t mess this filter up any more then it is, so I put the filter in a plastic bag to contain the dust, gave it a few smacks to loosen up the clumps, then rinsed the filter with water from the garden hose, voila, a clean filter! I’ll let it dry a day or two then test it.

It’s not perfectly white like new, but cleaner then in the other photos

Here’s the other side, cleaned between the folds as good as I could

And washed from the inside out! You can see daylight they the filter on the left

I’ll put it back together today and vacuum out the BlackSwan, I ordered a new filter and will either keep this one as a backup, I have more drywalling to do in a month or two , or if it’s not working, toss it!

Today the BlackSwan is getting an interior detailing, upholstery shampoo and next week hopefully an exterior buff and polish! Depending on the rains, my weather app, says rain everyday till a week from this Friday.

It's good that the filter is washable. The price of a new shop vac filter is $$.

I have a water-trap filter that I use between the shop vac and the hose to trap drywall dust. I bought it years ago at Home Depot. It blows the incoming dust onto a layer of water in a plastic 5-gal size sealed bucket. When you are done you have what looks like drywall compound at the bottom. It came with a hose and a sander with suction holes that uses drywall sanding mesh. The only dust I get is a little stuff that falls along the wall to the baseboard. I don't know why I don't see them in the big box stores anymore, it works great. There are a bunch of DIY water trap instructions online.

I hate sanding drywall, it's always messy. The only thing (much much) worse is grinding fiberglass on a boat. You itch for a long time, even in a full Tyvek suit and full-face respirator.
