What exactly does pulling the DRL fuse do?
Just to add some of my input.. At first, I hated driving around in the daytime with the headlights on. Before I had my SS, I hated driver's that would drive in the middle of July with their headlights on. But after a couple of months, I have adjusted to it. In fact, I love the DRL. I also deliver pizza's 5 days a week. When your working against a clock, every second counts, especially when the goods come out the oven. Instead of having to switch on the headlights in foggy or dark conditions, I just have to flip on the fog lights. It is normal to see almost sixty-seventy percent(my figures) of cars with their lights on now a days in my area, even during bright sunny days of summer. So for me, I can only see deactivating the DRL for a car show/cruise. Plus for me, its on less thing to worry about when darkness is approaching. I guess I am liking the technology that has come within the last decade. (Off Topic) I just built a stroked Pontiac 400. It is sitting at 488 cid with fully forged internals and a decent camshaft devoted to low end torque production. The heads were rebuilt and hand ported by myself. This engine should make close to 400hp and well over 550 ft/lbs. I have only about $3500 into this engine but I have done all the machine work myself. With a decent built LNF and turbo, I should match close to the power levels of my stroked 400 and get a lot better mpg. But, the DRL gets a A+ in my book.

One thing that I have really picked up on with daytime lighting is that I have less of a problem with people pulling out in front of me on rural roads in my area.
Many of the roads have 45-55mph speed limits and when I drive one of my older vehicles and someone is waiting to turn onto the roadway in front of me, they do just that; turn into the road causing me to slam on my brakes and slowly follow them until they get up to speed.
With DRLs, I have clearly noticed that people wait. It must be a visual perception thing. I now sometimes drive my older cars with headlights on when on this type of road for the same reason.

now if they would just see me on the bike more often, & I use the Hi-Beam daytime also..
Ever since I owned my first dark shaded car, I ran with my headlights on. I'd rather waste a little gas than hit some fool who is not paying enough attention to traffic.

I used to drive grey cars on grey roads on grey days...... (Seriously, my '79 Impala and '84 Camaro were both grey) Long before DRL I was using my headlights during the day because people would pull right out in front of me without them on.
funny, I just removed the fuses for my drl's as well(there is a small fuse and a block type fuse both marked drl) and I have seen no difference...maybe cuz it's a dark day and the auto headlight has kicked in? does kinda look like regular beams as opposed to the lighter, drl beam.
I would much prefer to drive with the amber park lights than the drl feature.

I would have no problem with DRL's if we could somehow get folks to stop using their $#@%^ high beams in town, or when heading towards you...
