General HHR Discuss anything related to the Chevy HHR that doesnt seem to fit into the more specific categories below.

What kind of car did you give up for your HHR?

Think your nuts? Maybe a little just for the fact that thats a sweet car there, but understandable if you needed more room, and just for the fact that its a fun car

Last vehicle before the HHR: '02 Nissan Frontier king cab. Gutless 4 banger, no cruise control, A/T or tilt wheel. A/C didn't work very well. Stereo sucked. Uncomfortable, bouncy ride. All better now with the HHR!

We got stuck behind a Viper at a set of lights in East Natick, Mass.
I pulled up next to it so we could check it out.
I noticed movement from the driver so looked up and it was Doug Flutie waving to us.
"Nice car Doug!"

I had a 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. I had replaced the transmission at 65k miles. Well...it went out again at 185k miles. I wasn't going to sink that much money into it again so I sold it at clunker price and bought the HHR. 2008 2LT.

I do miss the Grand Marquis ride. For a big car with a V8 it got surprisingly good mileage. About 21 overall, 25-26 on the highway.

I gave up a 2002 Ford Escort ZX2. The kids called it the Green Goblin.

We're about ready to give up our 1990 Caddy Fleetwood Bro'ham w/5.7 under the "Cash for Clunkers" program.
Believe it or not, my wife still drives this battletank as a DAILY DRIVER.
Bought it 8 years ago for $5000, put on 100,000+ miles, gettin' a $4500. rebate....helloo HHR !

Technically I didn't give up anything for it (except $300 a month for the payment) I still have my '88 single cab Sierra. Had to get something that got better than 8 MPG and had a place for a car seat.
