The light that comes on at night above the mirror. If you have a moon roof it's between the controls for that. It's roughly about a 1/4" wide.

It's not bright enough to illuminate anything, so I wonder why it is there. I can't think of a reason.

Look down at your window switches. It shines down to make that area softly lit.

It's so your significant other can see what they're grabbing in your lap when it's dark.

If it's meant to subtly light up the window switches, I don't notice it.
Driving around at night I don't notice it doing anything.

At another dealership that we didn't buy the car from, he made a big deal how cool that light was but didn't say what it was for. How'd you like that light he said. We did cartwheels and screamed like a 8 year old girl at a Hannah Montana concert then went somewhere else.

The angle of the light, even though I don't see any light shining down on anything seems to be aimed at the armrests, not directly down at the window control buttons.

I'll take another look at it tomorrow night though.
Thanks for the answers!

light??

i don't know about the light. but i HATE.. the window switches in the middle. my hhr is the only thing i drive , 270+ miles a day. i still reach for my switch to be on the door. i would like to add some on my door or doors. i wonder how difficult it would be??? i didn't know that earlier models had them on the doors. i wonder if i can change mine out with the earlier ones???

They didn't. They made the change with 08 SSs and then all 09s.

I think the earlier ones where in the middle, all the newer models have them on the doors starting with the HHR SS.

I like the mood light at night. puts a nice glow on my shifter, not that I need it but It's nice.
