I never run it below 1/8 tank...usually I fill up at/near 1/4 tank

but yesterday, I did see this:

this is after a typical 130 mi/day commute...mostly freeway, some stop and go...

if I was taking a long road trip, I would expect to see 525+ miles to empty.

But, none the less...here's my typical with 89 octane(our mid-grade)

When I first got mine in 06, got curious and managed to drive across Iowa on I-80 from the Nebraska line to Ill. that was a one time thing, I generally never let it go below half a tank.

I've run 465 miles and DIC said I still had 65 miles left. I've never taken the gas guage below 1/8 tank. Does the DIC tell you low fuel or chimes come on when you get "real" low on gas? My last car the DIC would say "LOW FUEL" and chime when the range got below 40 miles.

I drove from Philly to Indianapolis and first stopped for gas right after Pittsburg which was about 500 miles. Its a 2.4L 2LT 2007 and I was using 87 octane. It was a little rainy and about 50 degrees out average.

Glad to see a lot of you are getting close to 500, I am planning a trip to Manie from Cincinnati this summer, and hope to average that at least, I will let you all know how that went.

The DIC, when near the bottom of the tank, reduces "miles left" very rapidly. IF YOU used JUST this to determine your MPG calculation, it would be something line 20 MPG, when in actuallity it could be 30 MPG.

I have not experienced a chime....just the "LOW FUEL" statement.

Are you guys serious? I own a 2006 LT bought new in July 2007 which has only about 18,000km's on it and I'm only getting about 525-550km's per fill up in mixed city/highway driving (though a lot of the highway driving is in traffic). That's about 326-342 miles per tank. I've driven it like a granny (it's my first new car) and I'm still not getting anywhere near the numbers you guys get. I've only used regular fuel from Sunoco and Shell (top tier gas) and put in Mobil 1 synthetic oil, to be changed every 10,000km's.

What could be wrong with my HHR or what am I doing wrong?
