1,438 miles over a few days....but I was behind 18 wheelers...got real close....put the car in neutral and let the draft suck me along...oh wait...that was back in 1972 in a '68 VW bug...sorry.

HHR...don't know because I fill up at 3/4 empty...the DIC has said 422 miles a couple of times.

That`s not good I have a 07 2.2 got 790 km on it`s second tank they are rated at 40 mpg hwy in Canada that comes out to 500 miles per tank. You need to do some controlled test at 100-120 kmph and if it is still low let the dealer go through it now when you still have a warranty on it.

I'd LOVE to get 700+km's on a fill up!

My DIC has been fairly steady throughout my short ownership, 525-ish km's per fill up, right down to close to an empty tank every time.

Will driving her more aggressively help get her going? Should I change to a K&N drop in filter or even a K&N aftermarket intake? I haven't checked my tire pressure lately, they look good upon daily visual inspection, though I'm not sure inflating my tires a little more will make up the difference between 525km/fill and 700+km/fill.

At this point I'll do anything to get my fuel economy up. I'm not sure what to do. Any suggestions?

mine blows goats

08 2.4 2LT, now has 1220 miles on it. 99% city driving and about 10 miles a day.
I drive moderately with the occasional banzai whip effect break in dealio.
Filled today, went 6 miles and the DIC says 300 mile fuel range. The best ive had so far is 15.9 so about 250 miles a tank putting in 13 gallons. This little white HHR better get 20's and soon! Another puzzler is the average speed which never seems to get above 20 MPH. I went to the Socal HHR G2G and went on the freeway going 60+ MPH so hell, I dunno.https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif

That's about 326-342 miles per tank. I've driven it like a granny (it's my first new car) and I'm still not getting anywhere near the numbers you guys get. I've only used regular fuel from Sunoco and Shell (top tier gas) and put in Mobil 1 synthetic oil, to be changed every 10,000km's.

What could be wrong with my HHR or what am I doing wrong?
You're probably NOT doing anything wrong !!! Re-read the title of the tread. He's not asking what we average or get dailey...it's what is the MOST.

In my case, it was filling at a station next to the hotel, driving about 2 blocks and getting on the Interstate. Locking the Cruise Control on 70 MPH and not needing to fill it until my stop for the night....which was just off the same Interstate. probably only disengaged the Cruise once or twice, in the time.
