I'd love to have Homelink to open the garage doors built in. It's such an easy option to implement I don't see why it isn't available on every car from GM.

Hybrid for more mpg.
Pop out rear windows or better still roll down window on tail gate.
Fancier sound system.
Sunroof a la Pontiac G6
AWD.
More color combination. I have a Mini cooper, the color combo on that is unbelievable.
Better lighting system, HID?
Two tone color combo.
and
A redesigned front grill (ooop,s that shouldn't even be an option, my bad, we are talking about option, aren't we.)

USB in the 2008
Oh ****! handle for shotgun passenger
lighter weight
Brembos/slotted rotors standard

I can see how it is so difficult for car companies to build car to make people happy.

I wonder how GM can add all these wish options get better MPG and not cost $40K? LOL!

A fully loaded mini Cooper is close to $40k if not more. They are very profitable for BMW. My cooper's gas mileage isn't that much better than the HHR while a lot smaller. I believe BMW sales more Minis in this country than HHR, let alone Minis' world wide market.

People are paying $30k+ to get less space, similar performance (Cooper S vs HHR ss), and comparable mpg?

Yeah, they have a winner there! I want a Mini wagon with the cute dual rear doors and hatch. But it must be a spirited performer since it's gas mileage is rather low for its footprint.

Well the HHR is not a Mini nor is it a BMW it is a Chevy and few people will pay that much for a Chevy unless it has a V8 and RWD.

As for your sales you had better check that as Chevy has sold up till this year over 100,000 HHR units per year.

The Mini sells well in 16 counties. It sold over 300,000+ units world wide in 2007 but of those numbers in the states they sold 42,045 in 2007 and 54,077 in 2008. This year their sales are off that pace as are all brands. These are good numbers for a small expensive car but it is a little short of the HHR numbers in this country. Since the HHR is not a car sold outside NA it is hard to compare world numbers.

the mini is not light for it's size at 2500 to over 2600 pounds. But the weight is there due to the crash standards.

The bottom line is the HHR was built to sell in volume and to keep the price low. It has done that for GM and even after all the nay sayers of it was too late it has proven them wrong and has been one of the best sellers at GM the last 3 years.

As for the Mini it is a car in a class of its own. It sells for many different reasons that many other cars just can compete. Heritage, looks, trends, etc. It is like a Vette as you could try to copy it but it is still not a Vette nor a Mini.
