Wow, I usually don't call my car by a name until it fails to start. Then I have a variety of names for it! LOL

I refer to it as "my baby" since it's so much smaller in height than my minivan. Besides, my 19-year-old baby won't let me do that anymore. But, he did let me know it's snowing and he's freezing in Colorado.

What's up with that courthousedeb?

I named my HHR Henry. I usally take the first letter of the car and come up with a name. I have a vega named vicky, hence vickyvega73@yahoo.com, I had a ford tempo named timmy( cousin to tobby topaz) and a 89 caviler named calvin. I dont know if anyone eles had this same process of naming, mainly because i didnt read all 13 pages, but thats my hhr's name and reasoning. John

Myself, I just decided on a name for mine about two weeks ago, after putting on a really cute antenna topper my wife had in storage for a while but had no place to put. Since it's the right color and all (not to mention the front end kind of reminds me of this character), I named mine Stitch.

I've merged this thread with one of the same topic.

I drive "Turtle". My kids named it, and it fits.

I posted earlier in the thread...but decided to expand on it.

My car was nicknamed after NASCAR driver Tony "Smoke" Stewart who drives the orange Home Depot Racing #20 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Nextel Cup series. There are several reasons for this name as outlined below.

I grew up watching my father enjoy racing when it was on television. When I met my boyfriend Henry almost 10 years ago, he too was a NASCAR fan. Once I started watching it again, I was hooked and Dad and I would talk about it all the time when I was at the folks house. For quite some time, my mother said she didn't "get it" watching 43 cars driving around in a circle. Well...after buying me Dale Jarrett stuff for birthdays, Christmas and just for fun, she realized just how popular the sport had become. I told her...Mom, watch a few races now and you'll "get it" and she did. She picked Tony as her driver and followed him until she passed away last November 18th. We were even able to meet him several times at autograph sessions here in Denver.

The other reason for naming my car "Smoke" is making it a tribute to my mother. After my father passed away 3 years ago, I bought an 84 Honda Prelude about a year later. She thought it was a cute little car, but wanted to know why I didn't buy myself a brand new car. I told her I couldn't afford the payments...and she said, when I pass on, I'm going to leave you enough money to go out and buy a brand new car and I want you to pay cash for it. I told her I would...and several months after she passed away I went out and bought my Sunburst Orange Metallic HHR. I not only bought orange because of the racing connection, I bought it because I thought the color suited me better than the others.

After driving it for several months and hearing about people giving their cars names, I realized one day that mine should be named "Smoke" in memory of my mother. My folks have always supported me through good times and bad and I'm sure they are very pleased with not only my choice of vehicle...but what I have done with it as well. Mom would love the "Smoke" touch I have added to my HHR.
