My 2006 HHR just turned 143,000.00 miles WITHOUT a major overhaul...guess I should do a coolant change and battery change...Car has had brakes, tires, etc...right front wheel bearing went at 121,000.00 miles....otherwise the car is great!! (Knock on wood)

Being that some of these posts are already two years old, the data would be inaccurate.

Like any other engine family, the lifespan of any individual unit will depend on the care it receives and the driving habits of the owner.

I can see a normally aspirated Ecotec lasting 250-300,000 miles before an overhaul, the turbocharged units will probably need attention by 150,000 miles due to their "higher strung" nature, and just being driven harder overall.

* Your actual mileage may vary as they say.

Just passed 73K miles in my SS, at 3.5 years old. No issues except for regular maintenance and normal wear and tear. Still getting great MPG using super unleaded. With a kid going into college in the fall, I'm certainly going to see how long I can run the HHR, since a new car is not in the budget.

My 2008 2.2L engine lasted 212,000, then the head gasket gave up. New "used" came with 9,000 engine now has 27,000 total since Christmas 2011, that was a fine Christmas present. The car shows 232,000 on the odo, but all of the running gear has been replaced except the tranny.
