First it was the original looks, then the driving, feeling of the ****pit, then the price and then the milleage.
I test drove the Caliber, the Jeep Compass, the VW Rabbit, Suzuki SX4 and then, the HHR

to the forum, for myself first it was for the look, 2nd cargo room capacity and 3rd for fuel economy.

I thought I like the PT Cruiser when it came out but the minute I saw the HHR ,I knew Chevy had won my heart over. I like the looks, gas mileage, styling. I'm keeping my other car also. It's a Dodge Dakota R/T with 300HP,just in case I have the urge to let it all out. Giddy up !

I chose my HHR because I wanted something cool that was different. I looked at PT Cruisers and even drove one and wasn't at all happy with how it felt. The shifter in the 5 speed reminded me of the ones that were in the old Volkswagon beetles and looked like that too. Just a straight stick that comes right up out of the floor. I also wasn't comfortable in the drivers seat...felt like I was gonna slide out of it (that could be adjusted, I'm sure). Plus, after those two things, I said to myself..."self, why buy one of these, there are a zillion of them on the road...hold out for something different."

So the next day we were pulling into my boyfriends mobile home park and there it was. Sitting across from me headed out the park...the car of my dreams, right before my very eyes. I asked my boyfriend...what the hell is that...I want one of those. He said it looked like something new that Chevrolet had just come out with...didn't remember the name, but it was 3 letters. So, when we got to his house, I got online and went to Chevrolet.com and found the HHR and fell in love. I had to work the next day and he didn't, so I sent him to the dealership to get me a brochure and test drive one and told him to report back his finding. He did and said it was a peppy little car and he really thought I would like it better than the PT. He also said that they had a few of the different colors and the orange one was the best color out of all of them. When I finally got some time off a couple weeks later we went HHR shopping...4 dealerships...1 day and Smoke was waiting patiently for me at the last one.

I have never regretted my decision to buy the HHR nor the color choice. The HHR is different...just like me and I couldn't be more pleased to call it mine.

First of all A Big Texas to the site, your sure to meet a lot of friendly members willing to help anyway we can. You also should find a lot of great information here. Well for us we needed a car with room to haul furniture; we do upholstery work, and Deb down a lot of custom sewing. We needed something dependable, with good gas mileage thanks to or wonderful President pursuit of the old mighty dollars for his retirement fund. I wanted something that had some style, and wouldn't leave me broke. Once I saw the HHR I fell in love with the retro panel looks, the comfort, and the ride. Once I got Deb to look at and drive the HHR she too fell head over heels in love with the silver bullet, had to have her. Now as far as bad reviews goes every first year auto has it's flaws most have been worked out and Chevy is stepping up to correct the problem that crop up. Now the HHR isn't a race car but I have no trouble keeping up in traffic, no acceleration problems on ramps, and the car handles great. It's awesome on road trips, we even bought a Harley 300 miles away from home I disassembled it fit it in the rear of the HHR and drove 300 miles back home with no noticeable suspension issues, and no noticeable loss of power. All said I enjoy the HHR; I love the looks and am a proud owner driver of this great car.

After reading that, I decided that you probably have to grease your head to get that ego through the door, hence the wrestling mask. You didn't want your hair to get dirty.

I got my HHR after some research......cargo space, MPG (was very important at the time) and seating. It has served well for almost 2 years and has a lot left in her (him, whatever). It's going to be mine for a long time.

Actually, the HHR sort of picked me! Two years ago today, actually, I had taken our '99 Sonoma pickup over to our nearby Chevy dealer for a oil change. While I was waiting I wandered up to the Sales area. There, sitting side by side were 2 HHRs (Which I had never seen or heard of before). Next to them was a new Colorado pickup that I had thought about buying at some time. I fell in love with the HHR right off the bat. I went home, dragged the Wife back to the dealer, kicking and screaming as usual, and she test drove both the HHR and the Colorado. Later that evening we came home with our new HHR!

:welcome: Welcome to the site!!

I bought my HHR because my old mini van started getting 9.5 to 10mpg hwg. I wanted a newer model mini van because of the space for when I travel back east and am usually with one of my dogs. Like others I liked the PT, but came across the HHR, compared them and there was no comparision for the money, crash test rating, and gas milage. Oh and the roominess. Check it out on line, loved what I read, located a car and got it. Been loving it ever since and NO REGRETS.

I stumbled across one at the Chevy store. A Beautiful, fully loaded Black one. Took it for a test drive. Brought my family back later for a view.....

But I did not want a manual transmission, and the wife wanted to spend less $ so we bought a manual transmission Pontiac Vibe ...........
Eight months later...................... we traded the dreaded ( I HATED IT ) Vibe in for our HHR!

Sally,my wife, and I all like the styling. She feels a little closed in , and so do I at times, so we went with a sunroof version. My daughter poked here head through the open sunroof on the dealer lot and loved it too!

MPG was down from the Vibe, but HP ( Hauling Power ) was up. Vibe noisy, HHR less noisy. Lots of good mojo in the HHR!

Only bad point for me..........
Still hard to get a comfortable reading position while sitting in the driver's seat though. No, not while driving, but when sitting in the fast food restaurant's parking lot at lunch The steering wheel just does not hold comics and magazines the way I'd like it to Ah, the life of a book store owner.

So, style and economy played equal parts in us deciding on the HHR.
Chevy sure didn't help much since I , and a lot of other posters here simply stumbled upon these cars.

Old fashioned looks, lots of space for passenger comfort, and for hauling camping gear, and gas mileage.
