Year of an HHR

I tried the search and didn`t find an answer. How can you tell what year an HHR is at a salvage yard.

Not much to see in most online yard photos, you would have to trust the yard, and some use generic photos. If it's an SS you know it's an 08 to a 2010

How about the 10th digit of the VIN, the number right before the "S"

Oldblue Thanks, There is a yard that I can go to. It has about 25 wrecked HHRs. Is There some where like inside the Drivers door. On my HHR inised the door it has 08/10 . So is that the date of manufacture . When I bought mine they said it was a 2011 and that is what the title shows. So is the date of manufacture 08/10 but it is a 2011. If I`am looking for parts can I go by the door #. Thanks

Sure if the door is still there, or the glove box door, I think the build date is there also

If it was built 08/10 then it is a 2011. That's how cars are dated since forever. It is not the date they were built it's the model year.

You can also use the old repo trick; look at the tail light lens you should see a DOT and year on it.

Or use the 10 digit of the VIN, except that's a code too. Mine is a 2011 code B.

Or take your smartphone with you and use the VIN decoder: VIN Decoder - Chevrolet Forum - Chevy Enthusiasts Forums

OK so 10 is "A", 11 is "B", and 6 - 9 is 6 - 9. Simple.

Fwiw. The body parts are pretty much interchangeable for all the year models, 2006-2011.
It's engine parts and electrical stuff that were changed and updated over the HHR's 6 years of production.

The 2008-10 SS would be an exception as far as body parts. They have different bumper covers, running boards(skirts),spoiler, grille and interiors.

If it has a flex fuel badge on the rear it's 09-11.
