I have Farmers Insurance and it's classified as a Wagon. Heck, my rate went down from my 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport 4x4. I was sort of surprised by that seeing how old the Mitsu was...

When we moved back to Texas from Illinois in 2000 our rates went up 60%! That was for a 2000 Monte Carlo SS and a 1965 Impala. I called immediately and was explained the reasons...uninsured motorists, theft, accident probability. I'm supposed to get transferred next summer, hopefully not Jersey or Hawaii (even higher than TX).

I'm with Progressive. I think they still listed it as an SUV, but my rates went down compared to the Mazda Tribute I used to own.

so, who is your insurance company and do they classify the HHR as a car or a truck?
Grainge Insurance is my company. They classify the HHR as a 4 door sedan. As a matter of fact, my insurance rates went down with the HHR by $20. My 2003 Monte Carlo was a higher premium.

State Farm and the State of Washington consider it a sedan.

Farm Bureau Of Kansas.. List it as a small truck which made my insure costs for anew '06 less than the auto traded in which was a '97 Ford Taurus by $200 a year.. we were told it was due the crash rating of the 'HHR'..

Side note: My wife and I had 'Farmers' from 1998 till 2002 when they doubled our insurance on the '97... to help them recover their losses from 9/11...
