2.0 air cleaner

Anyone having problems getting a SS/2.0 air cleaner?
I am in my neck of the woods, Auto Zone keeps trying to order(twice) one , and have watched them click on the right one on the computer, only to get a rectangular one , for a 2.2/2.4 i quess. Going to try a "real" auto parts store tomorrow(where the people actually know stuff about vehicles and not just which button to hit on the all-knowing store computer) and see what happens.

Reason i'm looking for a air cleaner is, my MPG has dropped off quite a bit recently(25.5-6'ish from a near constant prev 28.5'ish) My driving has not changed, pretty much the same route every day, i try to feather pedal it mostof the time (C'mon it's a SS, i gotta get on it once inna while ) It might be from reformulation of the gas, since it's been turning toward winter weather lately, but IMO that is a lil too much of a drop to blame reform'd gas(and 98% it's the same brand/octane of gas)
I've removed the air cleaner element and blown it out w/ compressed air ,just to get the big pieces out(did noticed some dirt getting blown away with using the blow gun.) but don't think it's all that clogged up.

I've got a lil over 22k for mileage, and based on what Fram puts on their boxes or GM says in the manual, i'm either overdue(Fram=12k) or still OK (GM=not sure at this time, but i'm way under what they say to replace it at)

It's just that the last 1500 miles or so, the average mileage has dropped noticably.

Anyone have a cross reference # for other brands of air cleaners? Wix etc.? No way i'm going with K&N(Auto Zone sez they can order those )

Thanks

FWIW: I looked online at Auto Zone, Advanced and finally at Wix's website. Auto Zone shows none available for the SS, same for Advanced, and also for Fram, NO air filter available(would think after roughly a yr, at least Fram should have them. I realize it's the old: "one or two makers for air filters and repackage etc for different stores".
The closest i came is Wix, at least the pic shows a round filter .Part #42736, and shows for a L4 2.0l 134 CID SC which ends up calling it as a filter for a Cobalt ( SC= supercharged?)

Either way, i'm gonna try my local old fashioned real type auto parts tomorrow, and see what i come up with(at least i have hopefully the right Wix part# with me if that helps)

Wish me luck, and i'll let you all know what i come up with for those that might be in the market for a air cleaner in the near future

Ok,one more thing i found looking around just now:
Did a application search thru K&N, then did a cross reference with their air cleaner#, to get a number for Wix being:49459, and a GM # of 15909459.

Using the new Wix number, got nowhere on a search of that number.

But maybe that is a good number when i hit the old fashion auto parts store tomorrow.

I'm gonna get one, just short of a EOM from Chevy, if it kills me!

Remember that with a K&N filter don't over oil it when you clean it. For some reason people like to soak the damn thing in the oil spray. A light coat on both sides intil pinkish red and let it sit for 2 hours in open air before putting it back it.

It's the cold weather. I have lost over 2 MPG on the SS since it has got cold out.

I noticed the difference in one round trip. The SS dropped 3-4 MPG from 50-60 degrees to 35-40 degrees.
