2008 HHR SS automatic
North Americans love Auto trannys as driving on the interstate is not any fun shifting. Also it gets in the way of texting and setting the GPS.

To be honest I have owned both and for the week end pleasure driving a manual is great but urban stop and go or if you are tired that D on the shifter is your best friend.
Also if you go to sell it is a much larger market to sell the vehicle in unless it is a Vette. I know when I sold my last manual I had many who loved the car but walked away when they saw the shifter.
Welcome!! I am also a newbie and am truly enjoying the network...also have an interest in the 'vairs, currently own a '66 Monza Convertible and a '66 Monza coupe(bought this one for parts but find it is in such good shape I can't bear to part it out).
Our new HHR is a stick, however, I'm sure the automatic would be just as awesome...have only owned the SS for a couple of weeks but just love to drive it...daily work commute is about 90 miles round trip and I look forward to the drive every day!!

Well I have to say I am impressed with all the responses to my first question. I am more excited then ever to get the HHR SS auto. I have also learned that afterwards I can increase the hp even more should I choose with a GM factory upgrade. But one thing at a time, I first have to find one. I have another question though, while looking online I found a 2009 HHR SS, while looking at the interior pictures I could swear that the one I saw had a different pattern on the drivers seat then in the rest of the car. Am I viewing this wrong or did they make a change for 2009 and use a different seat for the driver? Please educate me more, I love it. Also thanks for all those who replied to my first question.
Welcome Corvairman, post up some pictures of your Corvairs. I really liked those cars and once had visions of owning and upgrading one with a Porsche powerplant. Also, had visions of doing the same to the VW that I owned. Wish those visions had turned into reality.
Good luck on your vehicle search.
