2008 ss HARD 1st -2nd shift

Hello All!!!!!
We have a 2008 SS HHR with the Automatic trans with 70,000 miles. Just recently it started to shift VERY HARD when going from 1st to 2nd. Shifts like a gremlin installed a shift kit when I wasn`t looking! Any suggestions??????

Did you do a tranny service at 50K?

Hi
No tranny service. The hard shifting went away for about 1 week and started again this morning, only not nearly as hash. This afternoon the tranny was shifting smooth once again.
How hard is it to change the trans fluild in the 2008 HHR SS?
Thanks for the help

You have a power train warranty. Take it to a dealer and take them for a ride in it. If it's a defect it's covered for free.

BTW the auto tranny isn't user-serviceable. You'll need to take it to the dealer for fluid changes, though the book states it won't need servicing until 100-150K miles.

Alex, what book are you reading? mine says 50K service. Which was done around 47K (I had 2 lomg road trips before 50K)

Oops I stand corrected Foolmoon ( I was thinking "coolant", duh!). True the book says 50K for severe duty which it lists as: frequent towing, taxi/police/delivery service, and heavy city traffic where it's constantly over 90*F (i.e. AZ or CA maybe). That indicates that it can go longer, but I myself just had mine done at 38K. I'd rather have piece of mind than a trashed transmission.
