Has anyone talked about changing the diff. over to posi units? I have read here the auto trannys will not take the beating but I do not plan on hammering on every time I leave the light.

I've been looking around for an LSD for my 2.4L 5-speed. The Quaife LSD (the one used by GM) is VERY expensive ($1450), but Team Green makes an LSD insert for around $250 that seems to work in the manuals or the automatics. Check the following link:

The high cost of the GM LSD is probably do to the fact that it is not just a clutch pack.

I included the info from GM on the LSD description:

"A limited-slip differential is available for high-output applications. This torque-sensing differential is an all-mechanical geared unit that uses no clutch packs or preloading to transfer torque from one axle to the other, and torque transfer occurs automatically when one wheel loses traction. Torque transfer also occurs gradually, without steps"

check aftermarket quaife units, my 01 jetta unit was $900 + apr bolts $75 and install $750, i upgraded clutch as well, only 1 hr labor with unit on the bench, quaifes for focuses were only $500 plus install because the were factory installed in europe, its well worth the $$$$$$$ i have about 275 tq and 265 hp on my turbo jetta, NO torque steer with quaife, peloquin is another unit almost identical, all lsd units are not equal, i have been reading complaints about the cheaper unit mini uses, quaife is guaranteed for life, even when raced, great in snow or just hotrodding a little, do it once do it right, if you keep your ride for awhile, 174,500 on my vw, its worth it
