anyone miss their displacement?

When my daughter got her license, I gave her my 2004 Grand Prix to drive and that's when I got my SS. I've been enjoying the SS for more than 6 months now. This week my daughter went on her senior trip, so I decided to drive the Grand Prix to work. The GP has the 3.8 liter engine with 200 HP.

I was trying to figure out if I missed the big displacement engine in any way. The GP handles much different than the SS, since it is bigger and wider. I noticed it plows through the turns, but the bigger engine does provide almost effortless grunt with little engine noise. The GP and the SS are completely different cars, and it was interesting to go back and drive the GP after having only driven the SS for so long. The GP has a more luxurious cabin with low reclining leather seats that have great bolster in them (and the seats are heated).

I like both cars for different reasons, but I won't be giving up the SS any time soon!

Has anyone else had this type of experience going from a bigger displacement engine to the SS?

Really? Honestly, I'd like to replace my 4.3 with the LNF!

I still have my 63 pickup (350/350) and I drove it for a week straight while I was on vacation a while back. When I got back in the HHR I thought "man is this thing slow".

I do miss that knowing grin my big 350 v8 gave me when facing a short on ramp. But, that is quickly replaced by the huge frown of 12 mpg and $80 fill ups last year.

Lucky for me I have an 01 Z06 Vette for the summer-time. Nothing replaces the rumble of a nice V-8, but as a daily driver, I like the Turbo 4. You can get into it, or drive miserly if you want to. My buddy is looking at buying a new Pontiac G8 GT.....looks sweet, Corvette with 4 doors, never been in one though.

My wife does more than me

I traded in my wife Suburban on the SS. She is still pissed. On the bright side, if she hasn't divorced me after that, my position is secure.

I really do miss the 6.0L in that thing. It was a fricking beast. I was following a GTO home from work today thinking "I wonder how much a 6 liter GTO costs?". I really enjoy driving my SS but I guess there really is no replacement ...

Speaking of displacement, the Colorado is now available with a 5.3L V-8 !

Personally, I love the response and mid-range torque with the little turbo motor, Idling along with massive available torque in my 454 truck is interesting, but I would not call it "fun".
