I suspect that when they see a $1200 estimate they will scream about that cost for such "minimal" damage. Most people don't realize the cost of body work when done by a professional. The last time I had body damage (smeone backed into my driver's door while it was parked) I had a repair shop fix it out of my pocket and they gave me a price break.

This is exactly why women shouldnt drive, So sorry to hear that Bat. I just recently got my SS keyed on the drivers side down to metal so i know the feeling of your baby getting hurt.

Someone rearended my wife in the Avalanche a couple years back and the damage to the bumper itself was minimal (a couple small gashes). But then I decided to look under the vehicle and saw that one of the bumper supports was bent.

When all was said and done it was about $1500 to make full repairs, and there was no paint involved (the Avalanche bumper is made of gray ABS).

I will not comment to the comment about women drivers, as a male almost rearended me while talgating in the snow this morning. Any sex driver can be a horrible driver.

But Batman, yes take it to a shop. It is better safe then sorry.

As for police reports, in Phialdelphia they just passed this new thing where they tell you NOT to call the cops if both cars are driveable from the scene as there was to many minor accidents taking cops away from where they really needed to be in the city. So check your area about that our insurence does not expect it.

Did you have a police report made? If not, they could say "Screw you, prove she hit you" and you would be in a whole new mess-since you didn't follow the status quo.

No charge for estimates, and for an SS if I remember right the bumper is ~$500.. paint and labor is cheaper when paid in CA$$$$H. Just saying. Most places will you cut you a break for $$ jobs as its not reported.
