"It has a 200 mph speedometer"

So does my '67 SS 427, its what I like to call "boundless optimism" because the old critter gets very unhappy at anything over 130...but its sure fun getting there!

VERY NICE upgrade! I certainly hope that your local dealer is a very big dealer with lots of clout. There will only be 69 of them made and I suspect that they are pretty much spoken for! What color would you get? I hope that you stop back in and tell us all about the car, with pictures! Best of luck!

jerSSey HHR,

You can visit the Chevrolet website to view details of the 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

The Camaro ZL1 name is derived from the ZL1 all-aluminum racing engine developed in the late Sixties and installed into a handful of regular-production 1969 Camaros. Only 69 were built with the engine, but they’ve achieved a mythical status among enthusiasts. This name also pays homage to the Camaro ZL1 of the past with the all-aluminum block LSA engine.

Chevrolet is targeting to bring Camaro ZL1 to dealerships in early 2012. Camaro ZL1 will include some current and new content such as six-way power driver and passenger seats, unique I/P and door panel inserts, Camaro ZL1 logo sill plates, steering wheel audio controls with Bluetooth® capability, wireless PDIM and USB, Boston Acoustics premium audio system, Rear Parking Assist, and Rear Camera System (displayed in the inside rearview mirror.)

The Camaro ZL1 will be powered by a supercharged LSA 6.2L V8 engine producing at least 550 horsepower (410 kW). It will be the fastest Camaro ever offered by Chevrolet.

Hey c2! Congrats on sellin' the SS and getting lined up with a ZL-1! I was drooling over an article on that ride recently myself! VERY nice Camaro!

I just wanted to say that some of your early posts here were very influential in my purchasing a V-Red SS back then also! I instantly was bitten by the bug when I saw your ride with your upgrades like the Brembo brakes and short-throw shifter. Good luck to you and hope to hear more of your new ride once you get her in the stable!

I believe you are confusing the limited quantity with the original ZL-1. Chevrolet will build as many 2012 ZL1's as they can sell, just that demand will likely be higher than supply initially. The Mustang Laguna Seca, and BMW 1-series M are examples of cars that are in fact limited production.

I am betting March 2012 for mine, but the order sheet is likely still 3 months away. This is going to be a rock solid performance car for sure.

Hey, thanks for the kind words everyone. Loved the HHR SS, and while I planned on keeping it much longer I got my heart set on the ZL1. Definitely will post photos!
