Boost Gauge Prob?

OK. I read the manual and it says that the Boost zeros out every time you turn the car on. When I start my SS the Boost zeros out and then it drops to a vacuum of 15 to 20. Is that normal?

Yes, and it is a good idea to let the vacuum go to 15-20 before driving. That lets the temps come up some and vacuum in the power brakes.

15 - 20 inches of vacuum at idle? I never see more than 12-14.

I'm guessing the variations in vacuum have something to do with altitude...just like boost.
