For anyone doing this, I wasted $14 buying the vinyl “carbon fiber” stickers. The rear bow tie has too many right angles to properly allow it to be precisely cut and the thin edges don’t allow a good overlap for it to stick properly on the edges. When I washed and waxed it today it started coming off at the edges. It was way easier and cheaper to just paint the rear one and it looks a heckuva lot better. The front one unfortunately is going to have to stay with the vinyl because the gold part of the bow tie was missing when I bought it and the vinyl smooths out the insert area.

Sage advise! I do prefer a painted bow tie! The vinyl wrap never sticks in my experience with it.

My vinyl is still sticking good after a full year. I go through the car wash at least once a week.

Of course, I've probably jinxed myself now...

Nope, flat vinyl, alcohol prep and mild heat gun to mold to the contours.

Because the emblem on the front is completely gone and it will be pretty much impossible to paint without filling in the little hole in the center of the bow tie, I'm going to have to do vinyl on the front or spend the ridiculous price ($45) for an entirely new emblem. Instead of paying the high online prices for permanent vinyl, I found this at Michael's:

(And yes, I'm secure enough in my age and manhood to shop at Michael's AND JoAnn's when absolutely necessary, lol.)

It was a statement not a question.
If you care that much about the front emblem you could get a grille from a junkyard for less.

I know this is a somewhat old thread, but this just happened to me today actually, hence, which brought to this thread :). Anyways.. just paint the back of the gold/clear plastic bowtie, seal, install, and voila? My rear is in perfect condition so im not going to bother with it for the time being. Thanks for the info once again boys!!!

Lol . No i was asking, is that all i have to do? Does the gold tint plastic make colors actually darker than they are by any chance?
