Brakes in the morning
 

Every morning when I back out of the garage, my brake pedal will vibrate when I push it and it is pretty soft. When I push it, I can see the boost gauge react to it. After a while it quits. Is this related to TSB 09-05-22-001 ?

I called my dealer who could not find any TSB's relating to my car. I gave them the TSB number and they said it didn't sound like my problem and also stated that I would have to pay for anything to be done.

Mine is an 09 SS built in late 08.

When this occurs, I am able to stop, but don't know if I would be able to stop if the car was on a steep hill.

Any insight is appreciated.

Yes, you would have to pay unless you are still covered by the 3/36. A TSB only advises the technician what to do.

Did you read the bulletin for yourself? Does the car already have the pump installed? Is this a new symptom?

Your description sounds sort of like a vacuum booster failure.

I read what was posted here of the TSB. I just got the car Saturday, so I don't know how long it has been doing it. I don't know what to look for to tell if the pump is installed. I'm pretty sure it isn't since the dealer said no brake work showed up in the system for my car. Any description of the pump or pictures might help.

If you have the tsb package you will see this motor from the under side.

I think that I remember somebody asking pretty much the same question recently. I vaguely recall pics included.

Thanks for all the info. I did search, but was not using the term vacuum and missed it.
It doesn't look like mine has it installed and I will bet it is very expensive to purchase. Looks like this is a safety hazard due to a design flaw. I have warned my wife to not get in a hurry in the morning for fear of no brakes.

I do not own an ss but if I did own one of this year I doubt I would have ever notices this problem because I always start my car and let them run for a minute or two before leaving.

However once I read about the tsb I would have had it installed under warranty just because.

I would assume that it will be safe to drive after the vacuum builds up on first start up. I would recommend checking your brake booster and check valve for leaks they do go bad at times.
