The Brembos on the new Camaro also have had a squeaking issue and they are stacking wheel stick weights on them to dampan the sound.

The locking diff will help but it will still dart some as it loses traction. Torque steer is a fact of life for any FWD. The only way to fix it totally is to move the drive wheels to the back. At least it is better than it used to be.

it's the pads. I used to own 04 Subaru Sti with Brembo brakes in all 4 from the factory and those were so noisy it was embarrassing. The only pads that would make the whole package actually worthwhile are Hawk and they don't like cold . It would take them 30 min to get to proper temps in city driving, after that they work great and don't squeel so bad. But over all Brembos stop 200 percent better than your facory setup

Funny

I have a 06 STi with OEM pads and the Brembos don't make a single sound.

Like bigvalavgib says it's all in the pads. You can also get some anti squeal at the FLAPS and coat the back of the pads with it. It helps dampen the vibration of the pads that cause them to squeal.

I am normally pretty easy on brakes and am having the same issue. The only advice i have so far is to make use of the brakes from time to time. After I was a bit more aggressive on the brakes, it went away. I have been nice on them for the last couple of weeks and it is back. Wonder what is coming up next.

I am going to have to chime in on this subject (again). I have over 15,000 miles on my factory Brembo's, and use them hard on occasion. From day one, they have been absolutely quiet. I am very sure the reason is that I did a careful job of applying a layer of the "anti-squeal" compound between the stainless steel shim and the pad backing plate on all 4 pads. Also let it cure for 24 hrs before using the brakes. This was supplied with the factory (Ferodo) pads sold under the GM part number. This is an EASY fix, if you have the problem because the compound was not used or it was inadequately applied.

Thanks will have to check that out and see if it solves the problem. It is so maddening to pull up to a stop and squeeeeaakk. When did you get an 09? I thought you had an 08 SS and purchased a set to install.

Yes, you are correct, I installed them, (I specified "factory" since they are not "after-market" Brembos).
