Bridgestone Potenza RE050A

Opportunity to get a good deal on some 225/50/18 tires. Any thoughts on they slightly taller profile? Shouldn't affect handling too much, and may give a little smoother ride. Only about 0.9" larger diameter.
Thanks, Ray in TX.

Folks:
No way on Bridgestone tires.... Had a set where the sidewall blew out and made for a very interesting experience. Good thing I was not up to any significant speed when these excuse for tires blew out..... Hence the dislike for this brand....

I doubt that a 225/50 will clear the spring perch.

Tires

Decided against the Potenza's. Bad handling in the rain, and wear out too quickly. How about Hankook Ventus V12, Continental Extreme Contact DWS, or maybe General Exclaim UHP or G-Max AS-03? Can I fit a 245/45/18?
Thanks, Ray in TX.

No, if you are going with a 245 width, you will need 40 R18. 225/45 R18 will also work.

I ran general exclaim uhp on my vibe. They were ok. I've honestly had better performing all seasons and they didn't last that long. I've been looking into the hankook ventus v12 myself. The exclaims don't handle standing water well, and honestly I wasn't blown away by dry traction either

I have 255x40x18 gmax03, very sweet tires. Put a set of 235x45x18's michelin sports as on 08 banshee's ride he loves them too.

I have the General G-Max AS-03's on my SS. Great tire. Quiet, good grip in the rain, excellent grip when dry.

They even have wear indicators on the edges that show if the alignment is out. Also in the center tread is a Replacment Tire Wear indicator. Pretty cool IMO.

I just put the Cooper RS3-A tires on my HHR a few weeks ago and I like them a lot. Definitely an improvement over the General Exclaims I had before, but also a good bit more money. I thought the Exclaims were OK tires, and a good value for the price but I don't think the Exclaims are available anymore.
