Angry Broken Shift Cable at 58,000 Mi, not covered under 100,000 mi drivetrain warranty???

My shifter cable broke on my 2008 HHR SS at 58,000 miles. Just driving down the street in a normal fashion, shifted kinda funny and then next shift nothing. Had to have the car towed in.

Assumed this would be covered under the 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty - but no it's not covered! If the shifter cable is not part of the drivetrain then what is it part of, the heating system?

Cost me $570 including a new air filter. Anyone know who I can complain to at GM (other than Obama) and get this covered?

Anyone else have this problem?

If you don't make any progress with customer care your next step should be to contact the GM zone manager. Ask for them to cover the shifter cable under the goodwill policy due to the low miles on your vehicle. Keep us posted with what you find out.

Agreed. They are all about good customer service now a days. They have to be IMHO, it is customer service that is going to seperate the winners for the loosers in this type of diverse economy.

the powertrain warranty only covers internally lubricated parts. example - the engine itself - the transmission itself & the driveaxles & wheelbearings & also the waterpump.

You don't need customer care, you need the service manager to make this decision. The people at the call center don't make these calls. You should call the service manager for help. Tact goes along way in these discussions.
