How did you get those custom mats? Are they made just to fit the HHR shape?

Dpoll, I work at a dealer, and have replaced the carpet on an HHR already. Not an SS but still had wear. You need to talk to the service mgr. because he is the only man/woman that can make that decision. But a good dealer will take care of you. Especially on something that obviuos and low mileage.

Was cleaning my car today and noticed that I had the same problem as dpoll995, except my wear is even worse. I have 8200 miles on my car. I played with the clutch pedal and it does not hit the carpet so it must be my shoes. I usually wear dockers.

It's obvious that this area neads a rubber pad of some kind as this kind of wear is unacceptable. I would assume if they replaced the carpet that you would have the same porblem in the very near future.

Hey dpoll995, did you take yours into the dealer?

i havent taken mine in yet, i plan to drop it off in the next fews weeks. i have a long list of things that they need to fix. when i was looking down there i noticed near the gas pedal there is a rubber pad protecting the carpet on that side, i think there should be one on the clutch side also.

Please post after you take it in. As I said, I don't see how just replacing the carpet will do anything as the problem will just reappear.

well i finaly got around to taking my car in and the answer for the carpet was not good. they told me that gm would NOT replace the carpet because the wear was caused from my foot. the dealer told me they know the its a design flaw but it was my foot that made the wear mark on the carpet and its not the cars fault. im not sure what to do about it now. it seems so dumb. i guess ill try and take it up with gm directly now. i would be happy if they just came up with a fix for it, kinda like on the gas pedal side there is a rubber pad to protect the carpet, something they could stick over the wear spot on the clutch side would be nice. anyone else had any luck getting this issue resolved?

I put in the Nifty Products Carpeted Floor Liners. They cars all the winter crap and look judt like the factory carpet.

They get ditry take them out and hose them off and let them dry in th sun.

If they wear just replace them. Note they never wore out in my GMC over 100,000 miles.

These are by far the best floor idea to save your carpet.

THey make them in plastic too but I hate the base pick up looking floor. I want to enjoy the look an feel carpet.

THey are molded to the floor pan and fit right in. THey do not move around and look just like my factory carpet.

Another option would be to visit a local auto upholstery shop and have them cut out the damaged area and sew in a pad that would resist wear. I know this would be an out of pocket expense but it would fix your problem and look good too. It probably wouldn't be too expensive, just shop around for the best price.
